He left Hibs after it was discovered he was not a practising Catholic which, at the time, was a strict requirement.
At Hearts he made 9 apps/9 gls between the period 26 Dec 1883 to 16 Feb 1884.
His career at Bolton spanned the period 23 Feb 1884 to 1 Mar 1892. When he lost his place in the team he left football and went to work in the shipyards.

Jimmy,as he was known to family,was my Great Grandfather,when he moved to Bolton he was sine died from Scottish football as he was a professional player,amateurism still prevailed north of the border.

He was also my great granfather,his son James was a referee my mum seen him referee ST Mirren I think.
