John Munro joined Hibs in 1948. His career was perhaps badly affected by the then requirement to complete national service and while in the RAF he clearly lost out on footballing opportunities. He spent much of the 1952/53 season in Hibs' third team (8 goals in 11 matches) and in the summer of 1953 he was given a free transfer.
