Walter McWilliams was one of four players on the cover of the 'Hibernian Handbook' in the summer of 1956. Played with Irish League clubs Ards and Distillery while in the RAF, then impressed at Livingston United with his scoring rate. At Hibs, however, he could not replicate this and moved to Cowdenbeath in May 1957.

Also played for Peebles Rovers, Pumpherston Welfare and Mid Calder Welfare.

Misc/trivia :- 'Scored 111 goals for unbeaten Livingston United last season. Previous clubs were West Calder School, East Calder F.P.'s, Broughton Star, and Livingston United. Works as a clerk in Edinburgh with the National Cash Register Co.'

The other players on the cover are Alec Harkes, Davie Gibson and Jackie Wren.
