Robert Stirling started out at Queen's Park in season 1946/47 prior to joining Dumbarton. The records show he made a grand total of 24 League appearances, 17 goals scored - an impressive 74% strike average. His career finished at Third Lanark in season 1948/49. Clearly, he had talent and it is surprising he did not enjoy more success in senior football.
