Willie Peat was a 'utility' player, who started out with Maryhill Harp. Joined Partick Thistle in August 1939, but was given a free and returned to Maryhill from where Hibs signed him in 1944. In June 1947 he joined St Johnstone.

After leaving Muirton Park he had spells at Montrose, Forfar Athletic and Brechin City.
