James Thomson made his first-team debut in a friendly against Sheffield United in March 1954. A 'fringe player' he also had a spell at Cowdenbeath.

Just to let you know, Jimmy 'Tiger' Thomson died in Edinburgh on 4th June 2013, I am not sure how old he was but would have been in his 80's.
He was one of the history makers in that he played in the Rot-Essen game. He also got a Scotland U23 cap when he played against Hibs at ER in a trial match on 11th Jan 1955.

Jimmy "Tiger" Thomson

Born : February, 1933.
Died : 4 June, 2013, in Edinburgh, aged 80.

Wing-half. Described as a strong and stylish player with excellent timing in making a pass. Although slight of frame he was well known for his uncompromising tackles.
