Just a note, Baker may have played for England, but he was Scottish.
He was born in England due to his father who was in the navy.
His father and Mother were both Scottish and Joe only spent 6 weeks of his life in England.

Joe was born in Vale Road, Woolton , Liverpool, but left, Does anybody know why?

Joe Baker was a phenomenal striker for Hibs ; - he had already clocked up over 100 league goals by the time he left for Torino in 1961.

Had he stayed at the club during his peak years he would easily have eclipsed Reilly's record of 187.

Still holds the record for most league goals in a season - 42 in 1959/60.

The finest centre forward to have played for England and had Walter Winterbottom not been replaced by Sir Alfred may have gone on to have won a World Cup Medal in1966. If my memory serves me correctly I think Alt only wanted real Englishman in his teams.

International appearances - 8 England caps -

(Hibernian) 1959/60 - Vs Ireland, Scotland, Yugoslavia, Spain, Hungary;

(Arsenal) 1965/66 - Ireland, Spain, Poland.

Joe Baker shares the post-war record for the highest League scorer in a season, in Scottish League Division One, with Alexander Harley (Third Lanark). Both scored 42 - Baker in 1959/60 and Harley in 1960/61.

I saw Joe play many times during his time at Forest

A wonderful player and most under rated by history.

Should have been in the final 1966 world cup squad and in my opinion; in the team.
