Willie Paterson headed Hibs into a first-minute lead from an Edwards free-kick - his first goal in League football. The lead lasted until the 83rd minute when Bobby Prentice, Hearts' winger, fired in the equaliser.

Scott and Muir replaced Stewart and Paterson respectively.

Referee :- W.P. Mullan, Dalkeith.
