On a heavy pitch, John Hazel powered in a brilliant diving header to give Hibs the lead. Kevin Hegarty headed Hearts level. Arthur Duncan got the winner when he drove into the box and cracked a great left-footer across keeper Jim Cruickshank and into the far corner.

Cropley replaced Davidson.

Referee :- T. Wharton, Glasgow.
