His brothers Tom and Joe played for Falkirk, Aston Villa, Scotland and Aston Villa, Rangers respectively. Alex was a strong, bustling centre extremely difficult to knock off the ball. A good finisher both on the ground and in the air.

Honours: 2 apps for Scottish League; V English League 1907, Irish League 1911.
