'The Hibs have secured the services of Donald Dixon, late of the Queen's Park. He will continue to play as an amateur, and it is hoped that he will fill the centre-forward position with greater success than any of his predecessors this season.'

This is my great grandad, he played for Queens Park and after Hibs played for Motherwell. He was from Wishaw and started out playing for Ashfield in Glasgow. I have lots of old letters from his playing time, offers to play for both glasgow teams and strangely west ham. I have a letter from Hibs offering him the chance to sign and I'm pretty sure that he was paid.
