Thomson Allan joined the club in 1963. Described as a competent, if unspectacular, keeper he was an excellent shot-stopper and had good positional sense. In 1971 he was sold to Dundee, - where he won the League Cup in 1973 and two Scotland caps.

Also had spells at Meadowbank Thistle, Heart of Midlothian, Falkirk and East Stirlingshire.
