'Throughout the first half Kilmarnock were generally on the defensive, and it was the superlative work of Gould and his backs that delayed the scoring until two minutes from the interval.

Shaw headed the ball into a crowded goal, and Walker detaching himself from the bunch, shot a fine goal.'
