At 1-1 Willie Ormond broke his leg in a clash with Dons' right-half Andy Cowie, then Jimmy Kerr broke his thumb but later returned to the action with his hand heavily strapped. Hibs had the game sewn up at 4-1 before Aberdeen got their second. The scorers for Aberdeen were Tommy Pearson and Tony Harris.
