Falkirk packed the midfield and goal area to frustrate Hibs, and their tactics paid off. The goal came on 60 minutes when Jimmy O'Rourke headed home a neat cross from Bertie Auld. Despite throwing everything at Falkirk Hibs could not get the second goal which would have taken the tie into extra-time.

Duncan replaced Schaedler.

Referee :- R.H. Davidson, Airdrie.
