Johnny McLeod had a hand in all three goals, and Jock Buchanan's header for the third was a beauty. Apparently, Tommy Preston had an outstanding game in which his fine distribution was a feature. Also mentioned was right-back John Fraser who was rated as the best defender afield. Billy Fulton was Ayr United's scorer.

Referee :- D. Weir, Glasgow.
