Alex Cropley scored the first and "Hammy" got a double in the last half hour. His first went in off the post, the second via the bar, but that late effort was a finely judged chip shot from 25 yards when he spotted goalkeeper Keith MacRae off his line.
Eddie Turnbull said - "...the victory was especially welcome in view of the fact that Hibs did not win any of the four pre-season friendlies."
