A report of the time stated - "The game was so dirty there may be a Scottish League enquiry but Hibs, who appear to be the main offenders, are disgusted at St Bernards tactics and the weak referee and would welcome any enquiry."

John Friar missed a first-half penalty. Hibs' Dobson and 'Ginger' Watson were both sent off in the second-half.
