Alan Gordon's leg strain gave Tony Higgins, an 18-year-old who had only joined the club in March from Kilsyth St. Pats, the chance to make his debut. Although it was not a happy one - Aberdeen scoring through Drew Jarvie 2, Steve Murray and Joe Harper - it was generally felt that the scoreline flattered the home side.

Referee :- J.C.B. McRoberts, Wishaw.
