Born at West Calder on 29/05/1886, right-back James Main was a stout and resolute defender who signed for Hibs from junior football in 1904.

Capped Vs Ireland in 1909.

Died on 29/12/1909 ; - as a result of injuries sustained in his last match Vs Partick Thistle.

A plaque, commissioned by the Hibernian Historical Trust, has been unveiled in Easter Road's Famous Five Stand commemorating the tragic death of Hibs defender James Main.

It was unveiled by David Gibb, Main's great-nephew.
