Joe McLaughlin was a centre-half who joined the club in February 1996. A skilled reader of the game who was strong in the air and decisive on the ground. Probably had his best years at Chelsea (1983-89), where he formed a great partnership with Colin Pates.

Also played for Morton, Charlton Athletic, Watford and St Mirren.
