Half-back/inside-forward. A great servant to Hibs , two decades a player either as a stubborn half or an inside man equally effective. McGhee and colleague Jimmy Lundie were the first Hibs to be capped. Capped Vs Wales in 1886.
Hearts secty/mngr April 1908 - Dec 1909.

Trivia - James McGhee's son Bart almost became the first Scot to score at a World Cup Finals when he scored for the USA v Belgium in Uruguay 1930. He was beaten by 4 minutes by Laurent of France.
