Joe Davis was a steady left-back who holds the club record for the most consecutive League appearances. Also a 'penalty expert' as the stats above indicate.

Moved to Carlisle United in December 1969, - making 79 FL apps. Surprisingly did not score for the Cumbrian club.

His run of games ended when he lost out to Mervyn Jones, who took his place Vs St Mirren on 03/09/1969 in Scottish League (H 2-0). Prior to this he had played in 273 consecutive games stretching over five years.
