Was signed from Newcastle United in August 1978, in a 'swap deal' that involved John Brownlie.
A cultured player who consistently impressed with his incisive creative style he scored a memorable goal Vs Dundee on 25/08/1979 in Scottish League (H 5-2) slaloming through the defence before rounding the keeper to score.
