Derek Rodier was a chemistry student at Edinburgh University when he joined the club in 1979. He had netted 28 goals for the students the previous season and seemed to have potential. However, he struggled in the senior grade scoring only 3 goals in 43 games.

Also played for Berwick Rangers and Spartans.
