'Jock' Allan was a reliable defender who could perform well in either full-back berth. Spent majority of career at Bury (1913-22). However, at Reading (1922-23) he was found guilty of match-fixing and suspended for life. Emigrated to America and played for J&P Coats (1923-28) as ASL clubs not under FIFA jurisdiction.
