Peter Welsh was, essentially, a centre-half who used his strong build to good effect especially at set-pieces. However, his career was blighted by a bad knee ligament injury which curtailed him to making only 79 League apps, 8 gls scd over eight seasons.
His other senior clubs were Houston Hurricane (NASL), Falkirk & Alloa Athletic.

A review of his entry in the 'Who's Who' of the publication listed below reveals no reference to him playing for Wimborne Town.
